Ingredients
  

Apple Filling
  • 6 large Granny Smith apples peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 2 Honeycrisp apples peeled, cored, and sliced
  • ½ cup light brown sugar
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Crisp Topping
  • cups old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup packed light brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup cold unsalted butter cubed
For Serving (Optional)
  • Vanilla ice cream
  • Caramel sauce

Method
 

Prepare the Apples
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with the brown sugar, granulated sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, lemon juice, and vanilla until evenly coated.
  3. Transfer the apple mixture to a lightly greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
Make the Crisp Topping
  1. In another bowl, combine the oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
  2. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or your fingertips until coarse crumbs form.
  3. Sprinkle the topping evenly over the apples.
Bake
  1. Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apple filling is bubbling around the edges.
  2. Allow the crisp to cool for about 10 minutes before serving.
Serve
  1. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a drizzle of caramel sauce for the ultimate comfort dessert.
